Presidents Report
October 2009
Hello All
This is our first newsletter since August. We have had such a busy time that
we haven’t been able to manage it.
In August we had Jamie Gray come to Cairns and run a training camp for the
Zone ID Squad in which nine Cairns riders were selected. For those that don’t
know who Jamie Gray is he is one of Queensland’s Elite Riders and has been
coaching BMX for many years.
August also saw us competing in Atherton and I say congratulations to all
those riders who attended.
September, was of course, our State Titles which were hosted by the
Ashmore BMX Club on the Gold Coast. As President of the Cairns Club I felt so
proud to discover that we had the most amount of nominated riders of any club in
Queensland.
So well done Cairns!
It thrilled me to see so many new club members make the effort to travel all
this way and I hope you all enjoyed your first State Titles.
We came home with around forty state plates I believe, what a huge effort, so
congratulations to you all.
Next years State Titles will be hosted by the Mackay BMX Club so let’s see if we
can top the nominations again in 2010.
Some of you will have noticed we have done some track upgrades and we
hope they meet with your approval. I would like to thank all those wonderful
volunteers who helped out. Also all the volunteers who chip in each week so we
can get racing underway and the masses fed. If you haven’t volunteered before
why don’t you give it a go, we’re a friendly bunch and are willing to teach you the
ropes. Besides it’s a great way to make some new friends.
Our own Two Day will be coming up at the end of November, (6 weeks in fact)
and we will be looking for plenty of help. Our AGM is also coming up soon so if
you’re interested in putting your hand up for a position don’t hesitate to mention it
to anyone in the office.
Our HRV Clinic went off a treat and Ashleigh Gun, one of our 12 year old girl
riders has written up a piece on the weekend. I only heard great reports and we
hope to get the guys back in the near future.
I hope to see plenty of Cairns riders next weekend at the Innisfail Two Day.
Good luck to you all!
Thanks
Emma Hoad
