Congratulations to Cairns members Aislynn Weber and Ashleigh Gunn who got world # 5 at the 2010 BMX World Championships over in South Africa this weekend, well done Girls!
The Elite riders raced last night and there was great racing by all our Aussies.
I have to mention Rachel Bracken from Townsville who got #W6 in the Elite Womens Final, well done Rachel!

The nomination forms for the 2010 BMX Qld Championships held at Mackay in September are now out!
Don’t forget, you must ride the Qld Championships to be able to race the BMX Nationals that are held in Cairns, April 2011.

Just wanted to remind you that Atherton BMX Club will be racing over the school Holidays. The only weekend they will not be racing in the next few weeks is the weekend of Townsville carnival. (17/18th July)
Registration is between 9.00 – 9.30am, racing starting at 10 am sharp. If anyone is running late they can call Gayle Atkinson on M.0437 197 122 and I will put them in or if they want a weather update.
I know there is a lot are riders that don’t want to be off the track for that long so would love to see Cairns riders up our way..

BMX & MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL COMPLETED AND CERTIFIED FOR THE SINGAPORE 2010 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

SUNDAY RACING
Last Friday night a survey was conducted down at the track asking if everyone was in favour of keeping our trial Sunday afternoon racing. On counting the votes it showed that most members were in favour of racing Friday nights and not Sunday afternoon’s. This information was taken to the Committee meeting during the week and it was decided that we will NOT continue with the Sunday afternoon racing trial for the rest of the year at this stage.
However if racing is washed out due to weather on Friday night we will race Sunday afternoon. So you will need to check with the answering machine or on the website if Friday night is washed out to confirm racing times on a Sunday.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and supported the trial Sunday racing period.
FRIDAY NIGHT PRACTISE
As you all know the club is getting larger by the week and the need to control warm up sessions prior to racing on a Friday night has become essential. Therefore we need to introduce some times for riders on the track.
6.00pm to 6.30pm – ALL age riders & cruiser classes
6.30pm to 6.45pm – ALL Pro Riders
6.45pm to 7.00pm – ALL Sprockets
We need for everyone to be aware of these new times which will commence on Friday 4th June.
Also ensure you have nominated on time for your class. You can nominate in person at the window from 5.30pm to 6.30pm or Phone nominations up until 6pm.
KEYS
If you hold a key to the track can you please see Emma with your key number as there is some new information that you need to receive
OR
If you no longer require your key could you please return it to Emma as we have a waiting list.
AUSSIES MEETING
The club is hosting their first National Titles meeting at the track from 10am on Sunday 6th June 2010. This meeting is open to all members from the club to come down and see what is happening so far / what needs to happen and where you can maybe help and support this event.
We will be having an open floor where we can throw around ideas and suggestions discussing track changes and ground facilities / food and beverage requirements / marketing and everything in between to pull off this massive event on our home track.
We will be having a sausage sizzle and drinks for everyone so please come down and see what needs to be done and where you may be able to help or support.
WANTED – NEWSLETTER EDITOR AND COMMENTATOR
We are currently in search of a newsletter editor and a commentator for Friday night racing. Our newsletter is a once a month edition where updates of racing / stories from around the track / for sale & wanted section / Rider profiles etc. It is a rewarding position as all the members love getting an update on what is happening.
We are chasing a commentator for our Friday night racing to make it even more exciting. So if you think you might want to give this position a go please come and grab the microphone and see what it feels like.
4 SALE
The club has some secondhand 6 seater tables and chairs for sale at the moment for $150 a set. We have 8 sets for sale and you can see one out the front of the office. If you are interested please see the girls in the office.
