Volunteering @ Cairns BMX

In 2016, the Club began a "no volunteer=no ride" policy. Each family needs to do one unit of volunteering per month. The volunteer app will be available for you to book in some volunteering, and to check that your hours have been recorded. Jack Emeleus is the Volunteer Co-ordinator this year.  Each week our club needs dozens of volunteers both on and off the track.  We need volunteers for each session, every week:

  • First Aid (must have current qualifications)
  • Gate Starter (must have Gate Starter training)
  • Berms (1st and 2nd)
  • Lines (x3)
  • Staging (top and bottom)
  • Fundraising
  • Canteen
  • Commentator

All volunteers must wear closed in shoes, and be an accredited Level 1 Club Official.  This short course can be completed online and is free of charge - http://www.bmxaustralia.com.au/en-au/development/officiating/level1clubofficial.aspx.  You can also come and do the course in the office on a Tuesday or Friday night as we now have a computer set up ready and waiting to be used.

It would be great if we could have all positions filled early each week.  Unfortunately the track cannot be opened to riders until all track officials are in place.  Please see Jack to advise your availability or email him at volunteers@cairnsbmx.org.au.

Training will be provided to all volunteers.... you will not be thrown in the deep end !!!If you are on Facebook, please join and add all of your friends to the “Cairns BMX Club Volunteers” Group as Jack is updating and looking for Volunteers on a weekly basis – it’s a good way to keep informed of what positions are filled and what positions we need help with.
