The Club Story

Cairns BMX Club was established in 1978 and is one of the biggest BMX Clubs in Australia! We are located on Scott Street, Cairns, just behind the showgrounds. Boasting not only a great BMX track but excellent spectator facilities and a volunteer run canteen.

The Cairns BMX season normally starts at the end of January and ends around the beginning of December (with breaks for school holidays). Racing happens every Friday night weather permitting and if rained out, racing occurs on Sunday. We have approximately 25 club points meetings and 1 major meeting during the year.

We have gates practice on Tuesdays for Sprockets and Aged Riders. Friday night kicks off with practice for our Mini-Wheelers and Mini-Sprockets. Racing is also on Friday nights most weeks during the school term (weather permitting).

All our most current news including changes due to the weather can be found on our Facebook page.

Before you take to the track, all riders must be licences through Auscycling. If you've never held an Auscycling licence before, they have an awesome free 4-week trial we would highly recommend.

For anyone wanting to come and check out what we are all about, Friday nights are a great opportunity to see how we really come together as a club. We are always appreciative of volunteers/officials for races, gates and working bees. Closed toe shoes are mandatory on the track so grab your shoes and come on down to the club.

Hope to see you there!
